Discord has escaped from his imprisonment. He has stolen the Elements of Harmony, and is making Twilight and her friends look for them in a maze in what is more than likely being used to break their spirits.
My sister has ordered me to stay in my room, fearful that I may try to fight Discord alone in an attempt to atone for the terrible things I had done in the past as Nightmare Moon. She would be right, if I hadn't remembered. Remembered exactly what had transpired when we fought Discord many millenia ago. What I learned that was needed more than the Elements of Harmony themselves in order to defeat Discord. Something that I am sure Celestia has forgotten we needed when we defeated Discord. Something that was lost when I became Nightmare Moon, having forsaken it.
The power of Hope.
Even with all of Celestia's power and mine combined with the Elements of Harmony, we could not defeat Discord. He was too powerful. He beat us time and time again, almost as if he enjoyed the battles like they were a game. Even though it seemed like that, we never gave up because of the one thing that burned in our hearts. We hoped for an Equestria free of Discord and his chaos.
During our battles with Discord, and never giving up our hope, a new Element of Harmony had been created. One without a phsyical jewel to be its representation. One that resides with all those in Equestria. One that I had been chosen to bear out of me and Celestia when we had battled Discord.
The Element of Hope.
Ever since I had been freed from my corruption as Nightmare Moon, I had slowly felt The Element of Hope returning to me. This alone has made me hopeful for the future once again. Perhaps it had even helped in returning me to normal.
I am sure hope will once again be needed in defeating Discord. Though my sister may not like it, I will go and help my saviours and Equestria in their time of need. The Element of Hope is needed once again, and it is both my duty and my desire to see Equestria safe from destruction and chaos.
I, Princess Luna, promise to keep Equestria safe.

A little idea that popped into my head. I was, while hoping Luna would appear in the next episode, thinking that she would help fix the problems Discord has caused with the Mane Cast and help them defeat him.
